Abstract

This project focuses on developing an augmented reality-based gesture control system using LabVIEW, where hand gestures are captured using a webcam, processed using classical image processing techniques, and interpreted to control system outputs. Multiple intermediate image representations are displayed on the front panel to provide insight into each stage of processing, making the system both functional and educational. Unlike virtual reality, which replaces the real environment entirely, AR preserves the real-world view and augments it with additional data. In gesture-based AR systems, users can see both their physical gestures and the system’s interpretation of those gestures simultaneously, leading to more intuitive interaction.
