Abstract

Remote sensing and GIS have become necessary to understand the watershed activities and for the sustainable management of land and water resources. This becomes all the more essential in areas where the rocks are hard, porosity is low and rock formation affects groundwater and erosion. Geospatial technologies have advanced in the recent years, still watershed studies involving terrain-hydrological assessments are limited in Rajasthan because of its diverse physiography. The present study aims to assess the Brahmani River watershed of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. This study presents an integrated hydro-geomorphological framework by combining DEM-derived morphometric parameters with multiple spectral indices (NDWI, NDMI, and EWI) to evaluate watershed behaviour and groundwater recharge potential in a semi-arid watershed of western India. For watershed analysis and delimitation NASA SRTM Landsat 8 - OLI/TRIS imagery was used for 30m resolution.
