Abstract

The Village-Based Growth and Rural Advancement Model (VBGRAM) Programme is an integrated and sustainable approach to rural development that aims to improve the socioeconomic conditions of rural communities in India. The programme focuses on promoting inclusive growth through community participation, livelihood enhancement, skill development, agricultural modernization, infrastructure development, financial inclusion, environmental sustainability, and social empowerment. Unlike conventional rural development programmes that often address isolated issues, VBGRAM adopts a holistic strategy by integrating economic, social, environmental, and institutional dimensions of development. It emphasizes decentralized planning, local resource utilization, participatory governance, and capacity building to ensure long-term sustainability and self-reliance among rural populations. The initiative also promotes women's empowerment, youth entrepreneurship, digital inclusion, and the strengthening of local institutions to hasten rural transformation. This study looks at the VBGRAM Programme's objectives, implementation tactics, essential components, achievements, problems, and future possibilities. The study contends that sustainable rural development can only be achieved by collaborative efforts including government agencies, local self-governments, community-based organizations, and rural stakeholders. The findings indicate that the VBGRAM Programme has tremendous potential for reducing rural poverty, creating jobs, increasing agricultural output, strengthening rural infrastructure, and improving overall quality of life. The study indicates that implementing integrated village development models like VBGRAM can make a significant contribution to achieving inclusive growth and the Sustainable Development Goals in rural India.
