Abstract

Mental health disorders represent a major global public health challenge in the twenty-first century, contributing substantially to disability, premature mortality, reduced quality of life, and economic losses (Patel et al., 2018; World Health Organization, 2022). The burden of mental illness is further aggravated by increasing global stressors such as pandemics, political instability, and social isolation. Despite increased recognition of mental health's importance, healthcare systems worldwide continue to encounter significant barriers in delivering accessible, timely, and effective services (Patel et al., 2018; Naslund et al., 2017). Common obstacles include workforce shortages, stigma, financial limitations, geographic inequalities, and fragmented service delivery models (Patel et al., 2018; Semrau et al., 2015). Treatment gaps persist in both high- and low-resource settings, and many individuals do not receive the care they need. In response, digital mental health has rapidly emerged as a transformative field, integrating digital technologies into prevention, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and recovery of mental health conditions (Torous et al., 2021; Mohr et al., 2018).
