Abstract

In today’s dynamic and highly competitive business environment, organizations adopt job rotation as a strategic human resource practice to enhance employee skills, engagement, and workforce flexibility. Job rotation involves systematically moving employees across different roles or departments for a specific period without necessarily changing their hierarchy or salary. This study examines the impact of job rotation on employee performance, coordination, and adaptability, while also identifying the key challenges associated with its implementation.

The findings indicate that job rotation has a positive influence on overall employee performance, although its effect on specific task efficiency is moderate. Employees perceive the greatest benefit in terms of improved teamwork and coordination, as exposure to multiple roles enhances their understanding of organizational processes and colleagues’ responsibilities. However, resistance to change emerges as a significant challenge, with many employees viewing rotation as a disruption to their established routines.

The study concludes that job rotation can be an effective tool for both individual and organizational development when implemented strategically. Proper planning, alignment of roles with employee skills, adequate training, mentoring, and clear communication are essential to reduce resistance and maximize benefits. By addressing these factors, organizations can foster a more adaptable, collaborative, and high-performing workforce.
