Abstract

Signal reconstruction in real-world scenarios frequently involves non-stationary signals contaminated by impulsive noise, sharp transients, or mixed discrete-continuous spectra. Standard Fourier methods fail to compactly represent chirp-modulated components, while traditional  Fractional Fourier Transforms (FrFT) cannot adequately model singular continuous or pure point-mass measure distributions (such as ideal pulse trains or multipath reflections). In this paper, we present the practical engineering and signal processing applications of the Fractional Fourier–Stieltjes Transform (FrFST) for high-fidelity signal reconstruction. By leveraging the rotation of bounded Borel measures  in phase space, we demonstrate how FrFST-based regularized inversion operators isolate linear chirps, filter impulsive measure noise, and reconstruct sparse point-mass lattices without spatial blurring. Comparative experimental models show that FrFST reconstruction achieves significantly higher Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) gains and lower mean squared error in severe non-stationary, measure-valued signal environments compared to classical Fourier and standard FrFT filtering techniques.
