Abstract

The banking sector plays a pivotal role in promoting sustainable development by integrating environmental responsibility into its operations and financing decisions. Sustainable banking practices, commonly referred to as green banking, encompass initiatives such as paperless banking, green financing, energy-efficient operations, renewable energy investments, and environmental risk assessment in lending. This study aims to examine the impact of sustainable banking practices on environmental responsibility and organizational performance. It also explores how Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives, digital banking technologies, and regulatory frameworks contribute to sustainable banking. The study proposes a conceptual framework that links sustainable banking practices with environmental performance, customer trust, and financial sustainability. The findings are expected to provide valuable insights for policymakers, banking professionals, and researchers in developing effective sustainability strategies within the banking sector. Recent studies indicate that green banking practices are associated with improved financial performance, competitiveness, and stronger ESG outcomes when supported by organizational commitment and digital transformation.
