Abstract

The Fractional Fourier Transform (FrFT) is a generalization of the ordinary Fourier transform that has found extensive applications in signal processing, communications and control systems. Its success has stimulated the development of related fractional transforms, among them the fractional cosine transform (FrCT) and the fractional sine transform (FrST). In this paper we prove the convolution theorem for the generalized two-dimensional fractional cosine transform in the distributional setting. The theorem supplies a precise multiplication-convolution relation that is useful for digital filtering and for the analytic solution of differential and integral equations in the fractional cosine domain. The result is situated within the broader landscape of distributional spectral methods and recent advances in multi-scale and resilient-system analysis
