Abstract

The Indian business landscape has undergone a remarkable transformation since the era of economic liberalization and globalization. Rapid changes in the contemporary business environment have created an increasing need to redesign management curricula and rethink how management institutions prepare future-ready professionals capable of holding higher levels of professional responsibility. In the Indian business context, economic liberalization, globalization, digital transformation, sustainability imperatives, changing customer expectations, technological advancements, and evolving organizational structures have significantly reshaped employers’ expectations of management graduates in terms of skills and competencies. Contemporary organizations increasingly seek professionals who possess not only sound theoretical knowledge but also the ability to translate and apply academic learning to real-world business practices. Employers expect management graduates to demonstrate practical knowledge and the ability to manage complex business situations, solve real organizational problems, make smart decisions, manage diverse teams, respond effectively to uncertainty, and contribute to sustainable organizational performance. These developments have consequently intensified the need for closer integration, collaboration, and partnership between industry and academia.
